FAQ
How do I care for my beaded jewelry?
Care for your beaded jewelry as you would any other fine jewelry. Do avoid water--a splash or two is fine, but please don't submerge your piece or take a shower with it. If you plan on wearing perfume, lotions, or hairspray, apply these first before putting on your jewelry.

What are beads made of anyway?
Quality seed beads are made from glass! It's hard to imagine how glass can be molded into such tiny forms, yet still have a hole big enough for a needle to fit through. A very skinny needle, that is--in fact, beading needles can be thinner than a cat's whisker. The highest quality seed beads come from Japan. The Czech Republic is also known for its very high-quality glass beads that come in many different shapes and sizes.
Is beading thread the same as sewing thread?
No, definitely not! There are several types of beading thread. While some bead weavers have their favorite and only use one particular kind, I tend to choose the kind that best suits each individual piece I make. The two main kinds of thread I use are Fireline, which is thermally bonded and braided to give great strength to very thin thread; and nylon thread, of which there are many brands. Nylon thread has more give than Fireline.
What is Chiyogami Yuzen origami paper?
Chiyogami Yuzen origami paper is patterned after Japanese kimono fabrics. It starts with a base layer of paper and then layers of color are hand-silkscreened onto it. It is much more durable than the origami paper you might buy at a local craft store.
